Poverty Paradoxes


Some have said the diseases of poverty in the USA are diseases of wealth.

Hi Floccina! These are great points; have you considered posting them on Bryan Caplan's blog? (I can't, I was blocked for posting to many links to other econ articles, can't be bothered getting another account, or dealing with Lauren Landsburg again.)

As you may know Caplan is planning a book on poverty in the US. Noah Smith had what appeared to be an epic counterexample to Caplan's theory that poor American's are responsible for their own poverty, in the form of the Japanese. And your post might just add grist to the mill.
